HOBART, TAS – In the maritime world, the difference between a minor hitch and a major crisis often comes down to seconds.

That’s why the TasPorts Security Operations Centre (TSOC) is doubling down on its "stay ready" mantra through a new high-stakes training partnership.

The TSOC serves as the 24/7 nerve centre for Tasmania’s maritime gateways, maintaining constant situational awareness across the state.

To ensure this frontline team remains elite, TasPorts has teamed up with Phoenix Resilience to deliver specialised incident management training.

Rather than theoretical drills, the team is diving into high-consequence, local scenarios designed to mimic real-world emergencies.

This hands-on approach focuses on three critical pillars of port security:

  • Rapid Impact Assessment: Developing the "clinical eye" needed to evaluate a situation the moment it breaks.

  • Streamlined Communication: Mastering the art of escalation and notification to ensure no time is lost in a crisis.

  • Resource Deployment: Refining the logistics of getting personnel and equipment exactly where they need to be, without delay.

Tasmania’s ports are the lifeblood of the state’s economy and supply chain.

By investing in this level of preparedness, TasPorts are closer to ensuring that Tasmania's maritime gateways remain some of the safest and most secure in the country.
